The Benefits of Hydrotherapy
Have you ever experienced that feeling of instant relief when you jump in the shower or bath after a long day? It's as if the stress washes right off and down the drain.
Water is known to produce psychological and therapeutic benefits with an immediate response from our brains just by being around it. Listening to the sound of a water feature can increase feelings of wellness, alertness, decrease depression, increase mental energy and promote a better night's sleep.
Hydrotherapy is the use of water at many temperatures and in forms, pressures and durations that have beneficial effects on a variety of systems in the human body.
The benefits include:
- Improved physical and mental health as well as mental alertness
- Increased blood circulation, nutrient absorption and digestion
- Reduced accumulated stress and tension
- Elimination of toxins
- Reduction of pain associated with chronic pain disorders, like fibromyalgia and arthritis
- Elimination of fatigue and improved breathing
Ste. Anne’s Meditative and Therapeutic Hydrotherapy Pools
With all the benefits to be found with hydrotherapy, we felt it was important to expand our water therapies at the spa. Launched in 2020, this area promotes tranquility and reflection through meditation, relaxation and rejuvenation. Cycling from pool to pool, you will gradually warm your body, aiding with healing and recovery as well as providing an enhanced sense of relaxation and wellbeing.
The Thermal Cycle at Ste. Anne's Spa
Step 1. Begin this experience by lying horizontally in the Upper Lazy River Pool. This bath is heated between 90-95 degrees and is meant to give the effect of a river flowing over your body, recommended time spent 5 minutes.
Step 2. Next, move to the Below the Falls Sitting Jet Pool, which is also heated to between 90-95 degrees, recommended time spent 5 minutes.
Step 3. After this, the Standing Jets and Waterfall Thermal Spa is where to go next. This bath is heated to between 102-104 degrees, recommended time spent 5 minutes.
Step 4. Next, move to the Upper Standing Thermal Spa, which is also heated between 102-104 degrees, recommended time spent 5 minutes.
Step 5. Finally, ease into the Yukon Plunge Pool to reset your core. This cold pool is between 60-65 degrees, recommended time spent 1 minute.
Restart the cycle from the beginning or choose to have a period of rest in-between, recommended rest time is 20 minutes.
Come experience the benefits of hydrotherapy and all that Ste. Anne's Spa has to offer and leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed.
